This 47-page book features photographs of the interior and exterior of the State Capitol by Hall, an architectural photographer and North Carolina native who lives in New York.
John L. Sanders wrote the book's text, which includes details on the history and function of the State Capitol from its opening in 1840 to the present day. His interest in the State Capitol goes back to a term paper he wrote while he was an undergraduate at UNC-Chapel Hill.

This is a print of a Pen and Ink etching of NC's State Capitol building. The artist, Elizabeth O'Neill Verner was born in Charleston, SC in 1883 and lived there until her death in 1979. After the death of her husband in the 1920's, she used her art to help support her family.
This book represents the combined efforts of several years' careful research and thoughtful writing on the part of its' authors, Edward T. Davis and John L. Sanders.

The miniature lithograph and frame are pictured on the desk in the North Carolina's Old Senate Chamber. You can see the original on the wall above it. This original hung in the Senate Chamber from 1840 - 1948. In 1948, it was transferred to the "Hall of History" (now the NC Museum of History) It was discovered in the portrait storage area of the Museum of History and was restored in 1985-1986 and rehung in the Old Senate Chamber. It is considered one of the finest Greek Revival frames and the only known example of work by Horton & Waller.
