We’re hiring a part-time historic interpreter to join our weekend staff!

The Historic Interpreter I at the State Capitol works 6-20 hours per week primarily focused on visitor services and educational programming. Duties include greeting and orienting visitors, leading guided tours for the public and scheduled groups, and operating the gift shop. The person in this position will also help with special events and site projects, as necessary. Pay: $8/hour.

We seek someone with a background in history, public history, and/or other related fields with customer service experience. Job-specific training will be provided.

As of May 17, 2021, the North Carolina State Capitol is open to visitors for self-guided tours Monday-Friday, 9 am- 5 pm.  Saturday operating hours will resume Aug. 7, 2021.
